Michael Reed to Speak at NYSBA 2025 Annual Meeting

Partner Michael Reed, whose practice includes employment disputes, will speak at the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) 2025 Annual Meeting’s Labor and Employment Law Section Program on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the New York Hilton Midtown. The half-day program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. Michael’s session, “Wage and Hour Update,” will begin at 11:30 a.m. in Sutton North, the Second Floor of the conference venue. 

Michael and his co-presenters will provide an in-depth overview of the significant changes and updates in wage and hour laws for 2024. Key topics include:

  • The impact of the latest regulatory developments, including updated guidance on the classification of independent contractors under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • The impact of increases in the minimum wage and overtime exemptions for executive, administrative, professional, outside sales, and computer employees.
  • Recent Supreme Court decisions on evidentiary standards in FLSA exemption cases.

  • NYLL §§191 and 198 “Manual Worker” pay frequency claims.
